Present throughout are the themes of women dominated and silenced by men, of anger and powerlessness in a male society, and of the danger of a doctrine of biological superiority. Dworkin's zealous opposition to pornography is well documented here, as are her problems in getting published because of her militant anti-male stance. There are definite notes of pride and self-pity in this book, but Dworkin's dedication to her cause cannot be questioned.
