Deadman Wonderland, Volume 12

Ganta and Senji head deep inside Deadman Wonderland to locate the Chorus Blocks, which are the key to unraveling Wretched Egg’s mystery. However, Toto Sakagami appears, and Ganta is captured trying to protect Senji. Meanwhile, Makina discovers the diary of Ganta’s mother, which contains the story of Ganta and Shiro’s shocking past!

Ganta and Shiro finally face off against each other inside a collapsing Deadman Wonderland. Shiro speaks of her past and how she’s been wishing for Ganta to kill her. Ganta asks her why she killed his friends, but Shiro just pleads with him to make her wish come true. In the end, Ganta cannot bring himself to do it, and so the final battle begins.

Ganta is recruited into Scar Chain, an antiestablishment group planning a mass prison escape. After a brief meeting with Shiro, he stands at a crossroads, but Nagi persuades him to take part in the escape. However, a traitor has already leaked the plan to the Undertakers, a unit specially formed to stamp out the rebels.

With their leader captured, Scar Chain’s uprising is thwarted by the Undertakers. Ganta seeks training so he can learn to use his Branch of Sin powers, even though doing so will draw him further into the deadly plots brewing inside the prison. The final battle between Scar Chain and the Undertakers is coming, but who really wins when one of them loses?

Despite the loss of their leader, Scar Chain manages to defeat the Undertakers and escape, but Ganta and Shiro stay to fight on. Tamaki, the insane mastermind of Deadman Wonderland, initiates his next plan—the development and deployment of the Ninben, artificially created Deadmen—and Ganta’s friend Azami is one of his first test subjects!

The residents of G Ward band together to confront Warden Tamaki’s Ninben, man-made Deadmen created through horrific human experimentation. Ganta’s friend Azami has been turned into one of the Ninben during a publicly viewed Carnival Corpse show and lost her mind. Ganta will do all he can to save her, but at what cost? And if things weren’t bad enough already, Ganta’s friends desert him as a traito...

Ganta and Warden Makina join forces to prevent Tamaki from gaining control of the Ninben killers. But the “Ko Unit,” the ultimate Ninben, stands in their way. Once hostile toward Ganta, the residents of G-Ward offer their help, but each must fight against their old wounds as well as battling the Ko Unit. Ganta’s search for the truth is going to cost him, every step of the way.

The residents of G Ward have won their battle with the Ko Unit but have been badly injured by the intense fighting. Meanwhile, Ganta gathers what strength he has left and joins Makina.
